Posted on 29 November 2017

Archiact’s leading conference, Vu: Defy Reality, has a team that is run by a few fantastic women. Our Event Producer, Anne-Marie (who you met last week) and Samantha, Vu’s excellent Event Manager! Samantha is working on coordinating Vu 2018 - a premier conference for VR/AR/MR thought leaders and professionals. She’s an all-star, and a fantastic addition to our #WomenAtArchiact blog series.

(By the way, Vu rebranded from CVR last week! Make sure to check out their exciting new website and teaser video!).

Name:

Samantha Ng

Job Title:

Event Manager

What project(s) are you currently working on?

I'm currently working on creating the foundation for Vu 2018. Stay tuned for more details soon!

What do you love most about working in VR?

I love meeting new people and learning about projects that are improving people's lives. Just last month, I met someone who was creating an AR headset that could help people who are visually impaired by filling in the gaps in their vision. Learning about projects like these are truly inspirational to me.

What three words would you use to describe a typical workday?

Research, Follow-Ups, and Brainstorms

What is your biggest achievement to date - professional or personal?

Professionally, it would be the success of CVR 2017. Personally, I'm really proud and grateful for the friends that I've kept throughout the years.

What is your personal mantra or motto?

You are what you do, not what you say you'll do. Integrity is really important to me. To me, it means being a person of your word, doing the right thing even when no one is watching, and treating everyone you encounter with respect.

Do you have any advice that you would like to share with young women aspiring to work in technology?

Don't be afraid to speak your mind, and to bring new ideas to the table.

If you were stranded on a desert island, what three things would you bring with you?

An inflatable raft, a flashlight, and a knife.
