Women at Archiact: Meet Elena Ismail

Posted on 12 December 2017

Our Women at Archiact series is almost done! To end with a bang, we’ve got not one, but TWO features this week. First up is Elena. She’s the EA to Archiact’s president, Derek Chen, and is also in charge of Archiact’s international business development. If you’ve seen any of our holiday decorations on social media - those were all her doing as well!

With her upbeat personality, work ethic, and her major love for purple, we think you’ll love her just as much as we do.

Elena Ismail

Job Title:

Executive Assistant / International Business Development

What project(s) are you currently working on?

As an executive assistant, I get to be part of everything going on around the office. A major fun project at the moment is renovating our office and making it a fun awesome home for all Archiact employees where people are comfortable to work and create! I also do international business development, and that is a whole other beast. The networking and connections you create around the world are very fulfilling!

What do you love most about working in VR?

I absolutely love being part of the future. a technology that will eventually touch everyone and all aspects of our lives. It is already widespread from gaming to medical - mindblowing what it can do!

What three words would you use to describe a typical workday?

Fast-paced, Fun, Intriguing

What is your biggest achievement to date - professional or personal?

Constantly stepping outside of my comfort zone is a personal and professional achievement for me. Going into an industry I knew nothing about and challenging myself to do well!

What is your personal mantra or motto?

Be a seeker of everyday magic.

Do you have any advice that you would like to share with young women aspiring to work in technology?

Just do it, it is exciting, rewarding with a great future.

What are some of the challenges that you have faced in this industry?

As mentioned before, I walked into this industry having pretty much ZERO knowledge about VR. This industry is very fast paced and it is a challenge for me everyday to make sure I am caught up as much as possible on what goes on.

Just for fun! If you were stranded on a desert island, what three things would you bring with you?

Potatoes, Sparkling water and a VR headset!
