Hey everyone! Here's a recap of GDC 2018. Don’t worry if you didn’t get the chance to come to the event, we’ve got you covered!
We showcased Evasion to GDC Expo attendees in Intel's corner VR booth from the 20th to the 23rd of March. We had an amazing location next to Oculus, Epic Games, Google, Sony, Unreal Engine, Enjin and Survios. As a result, there was a ton of foot traffic and the signup sheet to demo the game was constantly full.
LIVE at #GDC18! Come demo #EvasionVR and celebrate the power of the i7 with us at the @IntelSoftware Booth (#623 South Hall, Expo Floor)! How about some good ol' afternoon destructible environments? #VR #gamedev #intel pic.twitter.com/FWIqDBuz3S— EvasionVR (@EvasionVR) March 21, 2018
Everyone who demoed Evasion loved their experience, including IGN, Gamespot, UploadVR, RoadtoVR, CNET, VentureBeat, 8bitdigi, VRFocus, CatsandVR, and more! Here’s what they had to say:
- "If you do plan on getting the HTC Vive Pro, Evasion is one experience that’ll likely be a demo necessity,” - Peter Graham, VRFocus on Preview: Evasion A Visual Spectacle For HTC Vive Pro.
- "The upcoming Evasion--launching on Oculus and HTC Vive this year--expands upon what people expect from VR shooters, offering one of the most substantial VR-exclusive games in sometime," - Alessandro Fillari, Gamespot on 25 Coolest Upcoming Games You Probably Haven’t Heard Of From GDC.
I've been really impressed with how @ArchiactVRgames @EvasionVR is coming together. I have to let @htcvive know that Evasion really showed me how much of an upgrade the #VivePro is with that #GDC18 demo https://t.co/GaRXhwwjuE— CatsAndVR@ReadyPlayerOne (@CatsAndVR) March 25, 2018
Just three hours left at GDC. Wanted to do some Top 3s. Absolutely loved the following VR Software experiences (plus many more but its "Top 3" not "Top 23") @OwlchemyLabs Vacation Simulator @ArchiactVR Evasion and @Survios Creed: Rise to Glory— eminus (@eminus) March 23, 2018
We were really honoured to have some fellow game designers, whose work we really admire, drop by and give great feedback on the game (shout out to the folks at Naughty Dog and Guerrilla Games!).
Our game designer, Ian Rooke, and our senior producer, Jennifer Dowding, were also invited to Intel’s VIP table at GDC Game Developer’s Choice Awards, where they cheered on some of the greatest talents in gaming who took away awards.
GDC was the perfect venue to share our development story for Evasion. Our partnership with Intel’s technical team has allowed us to take advantage of the power of the Intel Core i7 processor to drive better destruction, cooler explosions and better cloth physics. Our senior producer, Jennifer Dowding also did an interview with Intel Software about our i7 optimizations, which you can check out here:
